This part connects the trailer with a square tow bar to the hitch. It attaches inside the tow bar and locks in place inside the hitch using a retaining pin (Standard Forged Hitch & Steel Hitch) or bolt and nut (Classic Hitch). This flexible connector can stretch easily to allow the rider to lay down the bike. Includes safety strap with retaining pin for use with the Standard Forged Hitch or Steel Hitch. If being used with the Classic Hitch the Classic Hitch Safety Strap (part 950067) will also need to be purchased.

Burley's adapter for bikes with a 12mm thru axle. Stock thru axles are not able to accommodate any sort of axle mounted hitch system. These thru axles have an external male threading on the end to accommodate the installation of Burley's axle mounted hitch system.

This is our Excellent Adventure Thru-Axle. It upgrades your bike's rear end for hauling cargo trailers, should you feel like taking Rufus along on your errands. Extensive product testing with our Bill and Ted Trailers provided an "awesome experience," but time travel remains a risky endeavor. Designed for use with slotted horizontal or vertical single-position dropouts, the Excellent Adventure Axle is compatible only with 12 x 148mm hubs. Compatible Surly models include Skid Loader, our compact electric cargo bike, as well as Karate Monkey, Krampus, Grappler, Ogre, Lowside, ECR, and Troll. Once again, the 12 x 148mm hub requirement cannot be overstated.
